Ta Prohm temple
Ta Prohm temple is one of most important temple of King Jayavarman VII. In AD 1186, the construction of this temple had completed, and King Jayavarman VII celebrated a ceremony to dedicate to his dead mother, a Budhisvata of intellectual and ideal, and his teacher.
It was also an important religious center and university.
According to a Sanskrit inscription, written on stone, Ta Prohm temple dominated 3,140 villages. To maintain the temple, King Jayavarman VII gave the temple 79,365 people, amongst of which included officials, assistants, dancers and, especially, 18 high priests. The inscription also describes about the King's war victory over Cham and about the numbers of his temple.
Nowadays, this temple has been ruined under the trunks of hundreds of giant trees however it becomes an important tourist attraction in Angkor.
